Ares Fields, Lifeguard: Prologue

A/N: I’ve chosen the “Bit of Everything” option for this generation.  Ares has the Jack of All Trades LTW.  What I plan to do is title each chapter with the job he is currently doing.  So, for the next few chapter at least, he’s a lifeguard.

A/N2: I’m headed off for vacation and won’t publish again until after Sims 4 comes out.  I have the first chapter for Ares done, but I think I’ll hold it until I have the second mostly done, too.  In the meantime, I hope this prologue leaves you intrigued and gives a little glance at Ares’ character.

If you’re listening to the theme song from Baywatch in your mind right now, I’m going on record and saying that I’m no fucking Pamela Anderson, so get that image right out of your head!

After high school, I had no clue what I wanted to do for a living.  I know my parents would have liked it if I had gone to college like my sisters, but when I really thought about it, I just couldn’t commit.

I don’t think Lifeguard is the profession I will have all my life, either.  It’s not like I get some huge rush off of saving people.  Ok, it is sort of addicting, but that’s not what motivates me.

It’s not the chicks, either.  Hell, if I wanted to use my job to get chicks, I’d be a fucking fireman.  Chicks love those guys.

So they love us lifeguards, too.  It’s a hazard of the job, but someone has to do it.  If you think mouth-to-mouth is a perk, though, you’re an idiot.  You know what happens after you save someone from drowning?  They vomit.  Yep.  They heave all over them-fucking-selves.  Mouth-to-mouth only looks good in the movies.  In real life, you’re likely to accidently get someone’s bodily fluids mixed in with your own…and not in a good way.

So now you’re going, “Ew, gross.  Why do you want to lifeguard if you’re only going to get someone else’s vomit all over you?”

I do it because of the hours.  Lifeguarding hours are amazing!  I work every other day, so I get to take time for myself all the time.  I love being outdoors.  That’s another perk of being a lifeguard.  I get to work outside when I do work, and when I don’t work, I get to do what I really love…hanging out in the water snorkeling, windsurfing or just sailing.

I’ll tell you, the life of a lifeguard is total bliss.

Ah hell.  I had you going there, didn’t I?  Truth? My life is shit.

  1. Oh gosh, LOVE this prologue. I was totally right in thinking that Ares definitely has a great story to tell.

His tell-it-how-it-is commentary is really amusing. Oh, and that ending–I ALREADY MUST KNOW WHY. What a great start–I’m completely sucked in!

  2. >< I get caught up, and you leave for vacation? I am already in love with Ares. He's hot too. Mmhmm. Gah, I want to read more.

I missed the prologue and went back to find it when I saw it mentioned in the Chapter 1 comments. I absolutely love Ares’s voice.
